
LT.GEN.THOMAS MATHEW, PVSM, AVSM,
ADMINISTRATIVE MEMBER
Born on 15th November, 1948.
Lt. Thomas Mathew was
commissioned into the Rajput Regiment of Indian Army on 21st December,
1968 after four years initial training at National Defence Academy, Pune and
Indian Military Academy, Dehradun.
During his service, he has participated
in 1971 Bangladesh Operations, Counter Insurgency in Mizoram, Assam and
Jammu and Kashmir.
He is a graduate of the Defence Services Staff College
Wellington, Army War College, Mhow and College of Defence Management,
Secunderabad.
He has held staff appointments at Brigade, Division and
Army Head Quarter level.
He has been an instructor at the Indian Military
Academy and the Army War College.
He has also been the Indian Military
Attache for France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Netherlands from 1998 to
2002.
He has commanded an Infantry Battalion in Jammu and Kashmir, a
Mountain Brigade in the North East and a Strike Division in Rajasthan during
Operation Parakram.
He has also commanded the Delhi Area and led the
Republic Day Parade in 2004 and 2005.
He commanded a Corps in the North
East looking after Tibet, Nepal and Bangladesh border.
He was appointed
the Adjutant General of the Indian Army in 2006 and retired from that
appointment on 30th November, 2008.
For his distinguished service to the
Nation and the Army, he was awarded Ativishisht Seva Medal in 2005 and
Param Vishisht Seva Medal in 2008.
He has been appointed the
Administrative Member of the Armed Forces Tribunal, Regional, Bench,
Kochi on 22.6.2009.
